Nestled in the heart of the North Pennines, Greenends Holiday Cottages provides the perfect location for exploring Cumbria, Northumberland and Durham.

Our private setting is home to three beautiful holiday cottages, which have been well maintained and presented to offer you a warm and relaxing ambience during your stay with us. Our cottages sleep 2-8 people and are ideal for couples and families who love to explore the countryside and make lasting memories in the great outdoors.

Of course, dogs are welcome too!

The Bothy

This beautiful cottage was origionally the Village School House and has since been converted into a charming, contemporary holiday cottage.

Appointed over two stories, the cottage offers a mezzanine kitchen looking over the living area, as well as a generously sized bedroom and ensuite bathroom, with ample parking outside.

Chestnut Cottage

Chestnut Cottage is a barn conversion constructed by local craftsmen, sympathetically converted to the highest standard of comfort.

The cottage sleeps up to 4 guests, with a beautiful balcony and outside patio seating to enjoy the astounding views.

Keepers Cottage

Keepers cottage is a cosy, self-contained holiday cottage which has retained many of its original features.

It offers comfortable accommodation for 2 guests who can relax and enjoy the views of the open countryside in both the conservatory and private garden area.

In the heart of the North Pennines, Alston is the highest market settlement in England, positioned 1,000 feet above sea level.

During your stay you can explore the bustling market town, enjoying the cobbled streets, ample shopping and delicious specialities, such as Cumberland mustard and Alston cheese.

Only a short drive away, you can spend the day walking along Hadrian’s Wall, exploring Ashgill Force, or enjoying a relaxing amble around the neighbouring towns of Penrith, Hexham or Carlisle.

Never to be forgotten The best ever place for friendly, helpful hosts, fully equipped comfy cottage, peace and quiet, clean crisp air and the greatest views. Amazingly comfy beds with dreamy duvets. Two jacuzzi baths. Didn't want to leave, can't wait to return. Maybe 2 weeks next time.

It was lovely to meet you both and thanks for the help and assistance through our stay! We had a great time The cottage is comfortable and well equipped and provided everything we needed as a base to explore the area. Despite the sometimes wild weather we thoroughly enjoyed the range of walking in the area, from high moorland to wooded river valleys. Ashgill Force was quite a sight the day after Storm Debi! The wildlife impressed too, no red squirrels sadly but buzzards, kestrels, ravens, short eared owl, deer, little egrit, heron and even a kingfisher! All in all, a great week in a cosy cottage in a fantastic area!

Thankyou again for your hospitality. The cottage was set up with everything that we needed to have a relaxing peaceful stay. Will happily return!

Hosts, cottage and wildlife second to none. Could stay in the conservatory all holiday, such a relaxing place. 5 star from us. Will be back next year!

Well our first time at The Bothy but certainly not our last. What a fabulous conversion and in such a great location. It's a real home from home with all the essentials for a great relaxing stay. We have walked for miles and miles. From the Solway coast to the Buttermere 'round the lake'. Aira falls including the highfalls and up onto the fell above. Quite a climb but so rewarding! After an active day out we so enjoyed The Bothy as our relaxation haven.
